G. C. Selden
G. C. Selden was an early twentieth-century financial writer remembered chiefly for his analysis of market psychology. His work belongs to a period when writers were beginning to describe speculation as a problem of behavior and judgment as well as information.
Few reliable biographical details are attached to Selden’s widely circulated text. His lasting contribution is the clarity with which he described crowd opinion, emotional delay, and the difficulty of acting independently when market pressure is strongest.
